Ferndale Ready Mix and Gravel

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2009!!

First Snow

Kohen had his first snow. He loved watching it and licking it off his sleeve. We took a walk in it and of course I had to snap a ton of pics!

Kohen eats cereal for the first time!

I started Kohen on cereal pretty late (to some people). Breast milk is best for babies and so there is no need to supplement before 6 months of age. With my 2nd child I want to try and breast feed up to them eating table foods. Kohen loves cereal for the most part. I started him with just cereal in the morning for a week and then I will increase it to three cereal serving for 2 weeks. Oh, and Kohen eats every 4 hours now and 4 times a day. Which is AWESOME!! He is such a good little boy.

Lighted Parade

We decided that we would take Kohen to the lighted parade in Lynden this year. It was SUPER cold and he did not last long, which was understandable. We still had a great time with friends and family.

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving this year was a little different. My parents were in the Tri-cities with my grandparents and Jordans parents decided to do Thanksgiving on Sunday. So Thanksgiving day we went to my Auntie Jennie and Uncle Harrys. It worked out really well because typically we do two turkey dinners on Thanksgivng but this year we just had one. We started the day out by watching the Macy's day parade (this will become a family tradition, forever) and then had a relaxing time with our little family before heading to my aunts house.
Thanksgiving is always full of laughter, games and being thankful for our wonderful/amazing familes. Jordan and I are very much about family. We want a large family ourselfs and we love surrounding our everyday life with our families. They all mean so much to us!

Kohen's first Vacation

I have not been blogging for a few months due to the fact that my lap top has been down. I am now updated and up and running.
Week before last Jordan, Kohen and I went to visit my grandparents in the Tri-cities. The Tri-Cities is special to me because I spent many summer there. My grandparent use to own a motel in the Tri-Cities and my brother and I would spend many weeks visiting and playing at the motel. From cruising around on the electric go-cart truck to many hours swimming in the pool to taking bubble gum and candy from the motel office. I also have many relatives that live there and so Jordan and I really enjoyed catching up with them and of course showing off our precious little boy. We drove around and went to parks next the Columbia river. (There are three rivers that come into the Tri-Cities-The snake, The Yakima, and The Columbia). We of course had to hit up the ready mix plant for Jord. It was wonderful weather and a wonderful first vacation with Kohen. I am hoping that Kohen will eventually have great memories of the Tri-Cities, as well.

Another weekend project!

We pulled out bushes last weekend and this weekend we pulled out the trees. Pulling them out brighten up the house and now we wont have all those leaves to rack up this fall!

New addition to the Van Werven Family

This morning Jordan went out to feed the dogs and goats, to find a new little baby goat bouncing around outside. One of our goats had a baby in the middle of the night last night. The little goat is a girl but I am not sure what I am going to name it, yet. These goats are my mothers project but this little goat may just become one of ours.... Or we may sell it because girls are worth more. =)

Weekend Project

Today we decided to pull out some mammoth bushed that were in the front yard of our house. We're going to move the split rail fence up closer to the road and cut down three of the trees to plant grass.  Here are a few of the highlights!
What it looked like before. I think these bushes were planted when I was about seven years old.

Kohen wanted to ride with dad!

Canning master...

Today my lovely aunt and cousin taught me how to can. There is a lot more too it then I thought but it really isn't all the hard. This winter I am hoping to pick up canning. It was a fun day spent with all the little 2nd cousins. I love my family!

Kohen James Van Werven

A wee bit of heaven drifted down from above, a handful of happiness, a heart full of love.
