On the move

Kohen has recently become more mobile. He is getting up onto his knees to get into his toy basket. I have found him many times on his stomach in his crib and he has accomplished getting on all four from sitting upright. I am so not ready for the major milestones. Where did my little baby boy go?! =(

County Life

This weekend was breath taking. Two gorgeous days in February. We ended up getting a lot of yard work done and Kohen joined in for the action. We also got out my 4-wheeler and took it for spin with Kohen. So much fun living out in the county.
Yep, we mowed our lawn
Going for a ride on the 4-wheeler
Kohen was loving it
I am not a gardener but I'm learning. These are some magnolias that I transplanted.
Can you believe its Febuary

Day in Everett

Saturday we went down to visit Jordan's cousin Byce and his wife Kelly. We had a get time visiting and getting to know each other better. Went to lunch down on the waterfront at a place called, Skutlebutts. =) We had homemade root beer and some really good food. After that we went for a walk on the boardwalk and past the Navy base. It was a beautiful day and Kohen was an angel. Fell asleep there and back in the jeep and in his stroller when we were walking. What a good little boy! I love that he's getting old enough now that we can pretty much take him anywhere with us. Jord and I love experience life with him in it!!

The Navy base
Kohen fell asleep as we walked on the boardwalk.
Van Werven family
A random stuffed dog that was sitting at a picnic table. We had to get a picture of Kohen beside it b/c it was too funny.
Jordan thought this was a dead seagul. Turns out its a torn sand bag...haha

Cottage Cheese

Today Kohen tried cottage cheese for the first time, and well, these pictures tell it all.....

After a few bites he grew to really like it. He still makes this face (above) though.

Fire wood

I chopped my first round of firewood this weekend. I remember trying when I was a little girl with my dad but this weekend I accomplished the task. I actually hit the round of wood and it split. Can you tell I'm very proud of myself?! We have a wood stove (which is what I grew up on) and so we're stocking up on as much wood as we can get. Jordan is fascinated with this new aspect of heating a house...I love it! His life will never be the same. Its also a great work out. =)

Weekend Warriors

This was one of our Saturday projects. It looks so much better with the split rail fence up.

Kohens new bedroom

This is a praying calendar for children. Each day it gives you a subject to pray on for your child and a bible verse to go with the subject of prayer. Cheryl Westra made it for me and I'm going to hang it in Kohens new room. I love it!

The only room in the house that we will not eventually be re-carpeted is in Kohens new room. I started working on his room about 2 months ago and just finished painting the walls. I re-painted the ceiling white and the walls are a light brown color. I wanted it to be more boy but not manly because I never know who will be in that room with Kohen. =) I still need to do casing and trim. I'm going to sand down the casing that's there now and re-paint it white. I found a good deal on trim on craigs list, I'm hoping that it will work in the room! We have a bunk bed in the pole barn that Kohen will eventually be in (probably about year and half) but for now its the crib. I will post pictures once its done.

8 months

Kohen has 7 teeth at only 8 months! He's eating cheerios for breakfast with a pureed fruit and cereal for lunch. For dinner he eats whatever we're eating in small chunks that he can pick up and put in his mouth or I puree whatever we're eating. He's getting too big too fast.
He's also waving goodbye...its too cute!

First time swimming

We took Kohen swimming at homestead for his first time. I take pride in my kids being able to swim well because I use to teach swimming lessons, when I was 17, to young children. Kohen loved it. He even put his mouth and eyes in the water. I couldn't bring myself to dunk him but I think he would have been fine with it. I just love seeing knew experiences threw Kohens eyes. It certainly makes me look at things in a different perspective because children are so full of life! I love it!

Happy Birthday

I'm 6 days older then my amazing husband and so each year with celebrate our birthdays together. I love sharing my birthday with the most important person in my life. I'm not sure why I love it so much but I just do. This year we went snowboarding/skiing the day before my birthday and so when we returned we had pizza with the Van Wervens for both Jord and I birthday. It was low key and relaxed. Exactly how both Jordan and I like it. No getting dressed up and going to a fancy restaurant, just comfy hangin out with the people that we love!
Then with my side of the family we had our ritual 'maple bar cake' which is amazing and Chinese food at my parents place. We love and cherish our families and are so blessed by each and everyone of them!
