Laundry soap

Today I made liquid laundry soap. It was SO easy. I have A LOT of soap....5 gallon bucket full to be exact. Here's the recipe-you can find all of this at Ace hardware in Lynden. The recipe is from the Duggars-if it looks familiar. I think the total cost for everything was about 6 dollars.

4 Cups - hot tap water
1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup -
Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda*
½ Cup Borax

- Grate bar of soap with a cheese grater and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.

-Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.

-Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use. (will gel)

ENJOY!!!!

  1. And...how does it smell. I have thought of this but like my fresh clean smell of tide too much.

  2. It smells fine. The fel-naptha smells really good. You can add drops of essential oil to make it smell like lavender, etc.
